I’ve been thinking a lot lately about courage and transformation…
When it comes to both personal and professional development, I notice some people can be quite afraid of what they’re going to find out about themselves, of what they may have to confront. Or they’re afraid of dealing with tough emotions that are lurking but have been conveniently left tucked away for some time – especially when over time it can start to feel like it’s a lot bigger than it actually is.
What I‘ve found through my own experience over and over again though is that everything you discover is good news.
It’s all insight. It moves you forward.
In recent months I’ve been tackling some particularly tough inner demons of my own, and I know that even the ugliest parts of our shadow selves and our deepest fears are so powerful to make contact with. When they come into the light they can be healed and released.
That is true liberation if you ask me. And yes, darn good news.
It’s all about awareness
Growth and self-mastery DO NOT HAPPEN without awareness.
I didn’t always think so optimistically about my inner discoveries but over time I learned to trust the process of growth and trust that whatever I might find inside myself was going to be useful. Positive.
Because sometimes it doesn’t appear very positive on the face of it!
Sometimes it looks messy and ugly and mean and scared and, frankly, not very fit for public consumption.
But you know what? It’s not for public consumption, it’s for your own awareness and inner transformation. It’s nobody else’s business, and anyone you’re concerned about knowing about your inner grizzly bits is sure to have a collection of their own. The only difference between all of us on this front is whether or not we’re aware of ours.
I’m always so grateful to the healers and coaches I work with who hold beautiful unconditional space for all those grizzly bits to come out as and when they need to, so they can see the light of day, be burned up in the light of acceptance, and make way for more of my innate, brilliant, shining self to come through.
Your innate, brilliant, shining self is coming through too.
It’s definitely a brave move to go for growth
Getting to the heart of an issue or stuck area of your life can still take some courage but it’s worth it because that new awareness is just one side of a breakthrough.
What if you discover something that really does change your life?
What if you discover those challenges around your confidence as a leader stem from old childhood wounding? Great news – now you can get to the root of the issue and release your adult self into your full potential. Bring on more career or business success.
What if you realise you have a values conflict and an area of your life like work or relationships? Great news – now you can explore that further and make fresh choices to bring you into alignment. Bring on the job or relationship of your dreams.
What if you discover what’s really slowing you down is some really old shitty mindsets about money from your family? This is a very popular one. Great news – now you know what beliefs and repeated thought patterns (kind of the same thing) to start clearing out at full throttle to put you into a whole new energy with the natural flow of currency, and life. Bring on financial freedom.
What if you discover there is in fact a selfish or greedy or needy part of you playing out in one of your close relationships? Most of us have some degree of this going on, so take heart, it doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you human. So, great awareness to have and now a chance to choose powerful new behaviours and not let the lower mind and ego run your life. Bring on maturity, personal power and quality relationships.
It is all empowerment
It is all giving you more choice.
It is all a doorway to transformation and becoming more of your amazing, extraordinary, fully expressed self.
