So much of what is going on right now has us feeling at the mercy of external circumstances and other people. Have you been feeling that too?
Much of the government rhetoric and policies – and mainstream media messaging – this year has fostered fear, uncertainty and disempowerment. And continues to do so. For many, our sense of control and personal agency over oneself has been diminished. It’s up to us to anchor back into our sense of self, to claim back our energy.
One way I have done this for myself recently, at a very practical level, is to look into immunity building / prevention and treatment for Covid. There is an enormous amount of information available online now from around the world about this and so, as many people (vaccinated and unvaccinated) are doing now, I’ve done my homework and found out what to do, what to take and what to have on hand. I now feel prepared, calm and also reassured that my family/parents/etc and I are in good stead for what may come. This was a small act, but it has felt very powerful and important.
Perhaps because of my extended health journey in recent years, I’ve realised my health is 100% my responsibility. It is also my first wealth, so I take charge of it fully every day. And whether it’s about health or anything else, self-responsibility is one of the cornerstone learnings for us all right now.
We are actually 100% responsible for everything. For our life. And when we can truly get our heads around this, we become fully empowered or what I like to call IN-powered.
As long as you think someone else is responsible for the way you are, you cannot become the way you want to be.
– Sadhguru
Before I did my research I experienced varying levels of fear. As well as taking practical action, I’ve also worked through my emotional responses so I feel safe and okay again. The external world is always holding up a mirror for us to see what our internal reactions and perceptions are. Are we reacting from fear, anger, frustration, hopelessness, apathy? It’s a great opportunity to face ourselves and grow ourselves – if we are brave enough! 🙂
So …
What are you taking responsibility for at the moment, and what are you expecting others (the govt, your employer, friends or family or strangers) to do for you?
Where are you giving away your power, your control?
What do you want to be taking charge of? What has been feeling ‘out of your hands’ that you’re ready to take action and responsibility for?
What are you doing from a place of fear, anger or judgement versus from confidence, clarity or love?
These are big questions. Don’t try to answer them all at once! And be compassionate with yourself as you reflect on them.
See how some reflection can help you move the dial a little more toward more empowerment – to being more IN-powered.
This focus on getting more in-powered is included in my latest Summer Revolution Life Review Kit. Yes, it’s out now! Grab your free copy today. It’s designed to help you take stock of the year you’ve had, and be intentional about the one ahead. A gift from me to you 🙂
