We may be living in a time where we have more resources and a higher standard of living than in any previous generation, but the demands of modern life (yes, even if we’ve chosen most of them!) make parenting a big undertaking in some respects.
The busy, frenetic pace of life and work can make it tricky to keep our own balance even without children. Throw them into the mix and challenges abound!
Parenting sometimes brings out our inner control freak, can exacerbate anxiety, and increase stress. It’s the role for which many feel the least prepared for in life. And can have you feeling frustrated, exhausted, exhilarated and profoundly touched – all in the space of an hour!
So, how do you remain on an even keel yourself in the midst of all this?
How can you stay in the moment and feast on those lovely moments when they come?
How can you show up the way you really want to as a parent?
The practice of mindfulness offers many answers to these kinds of questions and more. It has applications across the full breadth of everyday life including work, health, relationships and parenting, and is also a valuable guide to cultivating self-care.
Mindfulness for Parents
When it comes to parenting, mindfulness provides a map for navigating the day-to-day from a more centred and intentional place, helping you feel calmer and more in control.
For most busy parents – and especially working parents – finding the time to read a decent mindfulness book or attend a mindfulness course is a huge challenge. Where do you find the time?! It’s with this in mind that this small course has been created.
Designed particularly for working parents or newish parents with über busy lives, the course is made up of seven video classes (also in audio format), most of which are 7-15 mins long, and a few are about 18-24 mins, making it very doable.
These easy-access, bite-sized modules offer a simple introduction to mindfulness. OMMM stands for ‘mini mindfulness modules’ – meaning, short sessions you can watch one at a time or together based on how much time you have.
